At the end-of-year DE party at the Eblenkamp’s new digs in Waterford back in September, a few of the die hard guys were talking about going to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in November. I had never considered doing a track day so far away from home, but VIR is one of those “Big Boy” tracks that I dream of going to. Looking at the work and home calendar, it looked like I could go, so I registered for the 3-day event and started getting ready for the event.
Awww man! What an awesome track! I love Mid-Ohio. It's fast, loud, and tons of fun! Tom Christen and I made the trek down to go out with the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) PCA club. Great group of people with some high-dollar cars and some serious speed. Both Tom and I were initially placed in the A group (fastest). But after being a rolling schicance, we both decided to drop down a group. Even then I think were were close to being the slowest cars in the group. I've put together a video. You'll see at the beginning of lab 3, I get SMOKED by a cup car. It was like I wasn't even moving! Wow! Enjoy! I wasn't sure how well these tees were going to turn out, so my expectations were slightly lowered. But WOW! I am so impressed! These things are AMAZING! I am so happy! If you didn't get in on them, too bad. These things are done, but the good news is we have a new batch brewing with different designs. Remember, all proceeds go to support the Michigan 928 Owner's Group. Just go to the store and place your order. The best part is if we don't get enough orders to kick off the campaign, you owe nothing.
Went to the brand new Champion Motor Speedway at the M1 Concourse on Saturday with the SEMPCA crew. Pretty cool track. Look for my upcoming article in the P4. I'll cross post it here in a few weeks after it comes out. In the meantime, here are some pics!
